Robot Intelligence 3 (in English) - Robot Intelligence (Prof. Warwick): The third set of presentations will take place on Monday, April 16, 2007 at 11:00 -12:30 + 13:00-14:30 in the room 112 (Vycichlova knihovna) and will be concerned with the evolution of Artificial Intelligence, from the slow death of traditional AI to truly intelligent machines and cyborgs. Initially a modern perspective will be given to the status of traditional AI via up to date results from such as the Turing imitation Game. A look however will be taken at some of the exciting projects presently ongoing which involve the direct connection between artificial and real neural networks. This will include biological neural tissue being grown in order to control robot technology, the use of artificial neural nets to predict the behaviour of human neural nets for medical/corrective purposes and the possibilities inherent with human enhancements. , Apr 16, 2007

Robot Intelligence 2 (in English) - Next block of lectures: Friday 5.1.2007 in "Vycichlova knihovna" at 11:00-12:30 + 13:00-14:30
In this second group of lectures, emphasis will be placed on a robot's perception of the world around them. Robot sensors and actuators will be considered in terms of the effect they have on the intellectual performance of the robot. Both mathematical and behavioural approaches to robot learning and control will be considered.
General available architectures for intelligence in robots will be considered in terms of Classical, Subsumption, Motor Schema and Egos - this will be done with regard to subsequent presentations looking more in depth at direct structures for robot intelligence based on modern, bottom up, AI strategies.
The presentations will be supplemented with previously unseen interview footage involving Joel Garreau, Ray Kurzweil, Marvin Minsky and Kevin Warwick.

Robot Intelligence (in English) - the first block of lectures will be on Monday, November 13th, 2006 at CTU, Karlovo nam. 13, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, room E112 (Vycichlova knihovna) at 11:00 - 14:00.
The overall course intends to look at just what intelligence is all about and what it means for a machine to be intelligent. The overall viewpoint is one from the new wave of artificial intelligence - more bottom up rather than the classical top down approach. In the first set of 3 lectures we will investigate what exactly intelligence is in humans animals and machines. It is expected that the lectures will take on much of a discussion/interaction format with ideas being considered and argued. In the second set of 3 lectures we will look at different concepts humans have of intelligence in machines and investigate the appropriateness and accuracy of such viewpoints. Here we will consider such as the Turing test, The Chinese room problem and philosophical approaches to intelligence. In the third set of lectures we will consider what machine intelligence - and intelligence in robots in particular - is all about. To an extent this will involve a look at such as Neural Networks and Genetic Algorithms, but practical examples will be given and finally possibilities of combining robot and human intelligence will be looked into. , Nov 13, 2006
